Benefits of Cold Laser Therapy

Many LLLT systems are portable, and treatments can be done virtually anywhere there is a trained technician. LLLT systems are comparatively inexpensive and provide solutions to a wide range of clinical conditions with a single device. LLLT has been proven to work more quickly and often at an earlier stage than conventional surgery or therapy; thus, reducing treatment and recovery times.

Put simply, LLLT offers cost savings for institutions and better health care for patients at reduced costs.

Clinical Benefits

Efficacy rates up to 90%

Theralase laser therapy is safe, effective and painless, with results which are often immediate with no side effects. Efficacy rates in excess of 90% are routinely achieved.

Eliminate pain / Reduce inflammation

Laser light reduces swelling caused by bruising or inflammation of joints to provide enhanced joint mobility. Safely and effectively stimulates deep tissue regeneration and relieves pain and inflammation.

Non toxic / No side effects

Theralase laser therapy is non toxic and painless, with results which are often immediate with no side effects.

Non invasive and extremely safe

Theralase laser therapy is non-invasive, the lasers used for tissue stimulation are not strong enough to damage cells; so even if they were used 24 hours a day, they would not be able to cause any harm.

Faster wound healing and closure

Reduces the formation of scar tissue following damage from cuts, scratches, burns or surgery and allows the reabsorption of fibrotic tissue already formed through biostimulation of collagen during the remodeling phase of healing.

Over 70 pre-programmed treatments

Theralase laser system contains up to 70 clinically proven pre-programmed treatments and can retain up to 256 patient protocols in memory.

Financial Benefits

Return on Investment (ROI)

Everyone benefits from using the Theralase laser system; your patient gets better through safe and effective treatments, while your practice generates increased revenue. The graph below shows monthly revenues and return on investment calculations for a TLC-1007H system varying upon the number of treatments delivered per month and the cost per treatment.

Theralase is more affordable than ever for US practitioners and patients. With Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes assigned by the American Medical Association, the Theralase reimbursement strategy allows practitioners and patients to claim cold laser treatments through public health insurance programs, as well as private programs.

Public Reimbursement

Theralase treatments are reimbursable through public insurance in the United States Average cost per treatment with public reimbursement is between $0 and $40. The total level of reimbursement is dependant on third party insurer and state.

With the aid of clinical studies, Theralase anticipates securing a new CPT code for the TLC-2000 biofeedback laser (soon to be released), which will make treatments for this device eligible for public reimbursement as well.

Private Reimbursement

With private insurance programs (paid for by the patient) the average cost is between $40 and $100 per treatment. The overall cost of treatment is largely dependant on practitioner qualifications and proximity to urban centers.

Physiological Effect of LLLT

LLLT is painless and is well tolerated by patients of all ages and conditions. During more than 35 years of clinical use, it has never resulted in a serious side effect. Therapeutic laser systems are athermic (no heat) and therefore incapable of causing tissue damage. As well, cells have a natural ability to resist over-stimulation, meaning it is not possible to harm tissue by overdosing, as long a you use a therapeutic laser that is used in the therapeutic window and remains below the Maximum permissible Exposure (MPE) of tissue.
